Why Your Support Matters
When you register to participate or sponsor a Participant, every penny raised counts towards helping thousands of Canadians cope with and recover from their orthopaedic journey, with an ultimate goal of regaining a quality, pain free life with mobility and independence. The result? A healthier community with less strain on our health care resources.
The Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation has helped thousands of Canadians through our educational patient resources, one-of-a-kind peer support program and through research funding. In order to produce these much needed materials, we rely on the kindness and generosity of the public for donations and support.
Here’s why your donations matter:
- Painful, restricted movement is isolating and surgery can be daunting,
- Patients need to understand their role in their own best recovery,
- Currently, tens of thousands of Canadians are on wait lists of up to a year for surgery that will restore their mobility and independence,
- People need to receive education and support in different ways, and
- Helping people back to their lives and back to work helps everyone.
Patient education is the Foundation's highest priority. Education is necessary in order to bridge the gap between what education orthopaedic professionals and local hospitals can feasibly provide and what patients need to enable their best possible outcomes - without drawing on already strained health care resources.
