How will the funds be utilized?
All proceeds will be invested into local communities through the production and distribution of educational materials and resources. These materials will be made available to orthopaedic patients through hospitals, surgeon offices, physiotherapy clinics, joint assessment clinics, via nurses, through mail and on-line. Funds will also be used to expand local services of the Ortho Connect Peer Support Program.
The Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation’s free patient education resources also help people to become confident, active participants in their orthopaedic care. Because funds available for patient resources vary widely at the local level, access to needed information depends on where patients live. The Foundation’s resources are available anywhere in Canada – in hard copy through health care professionals, by mail, in volunteer peer support by phone through Ortho Connect, and direct-to-patient via the Internet – thus levelling the playing field for all patients.
The Foundation’s resources are developed with input and guidance from orthopaedic surgeons, for use by surgeons, orthopaedic health care professionals and patients, and are recognized as very helpful to their patients and to their practices.
